TAORMINA & GODFATHER TOUR

Savoca - Forza d'Agrò - Taormina

One of our English speaking drivers will meet you outside the gangway of the cruise ship, holding a sign with your group's name on it. This will be a great introduction to the real Sicily, exploring the charming towns of Savoca and Forza D'Agrò with your local driver who so proudly calls these areas home.

Your first stop is Castelmola, a medieval hill town above Taormina offering breathtaking views of the sea and Mount Etna.

You will then continue to Savoca, a charming, non-touristic hill town dating back to Norman times. Famous for scenes from The Godfather, Savoca allows you to follow in the footsteps of Al Pacino and cast members. Highlights include a stop at the historic Bar Vitelli for a lemon granita, one of Francis Ford Coppola’s favorite spots, and a visit to the Church of St. Lucy, where the wedding scene of Michael and Apollonia was filmed.

Next, you’ll visit Forza d’Agrò, a beautifully preserved medieval village with stunning panoramic views and a perfect blend of history, culture, art, and tradition.

The tour continues to Taormina, spectacularly set on Monte Tauro overlooking the Ionian coast with Mount Etna in the background. You’ll explore its historic center, shaped by Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Medieval, Catalan, and Baroque influences. Highlights include the Greek Theatre and a stroll along Corso Umberto, lined with shops, churches, and palaces. Your driver will gladly recommend excellent lunch options.

After some time at leisure we drive back to the pier.

MOUNT ETNA & TAORMINA WITH WINERY 

Wine Tasting and Light Lunch included

One of our drivers will meet you at the gangway of your cruise in the port of Catania, holding a sign with your name on it. Then your memorable tour of two of the most beautiful places in Sicily "Taormina and Mount Etna including wine tasting and light lunch", will begin.

Mount Etna is one of the world's most active volcanos, majestic and fascinating, it was considered by the Ancient Greeks to be the realm of Vulcan, God of fire. Unpredictable and ever-changing, this mountain rises well over 6500 feet above sea level, making it the highest mountain in Europe after the Alps.

You will pass through the town of Giarre and then through the village of Zafferana before arriving at the Crater named Silvestri which is about 6000 ft above sea level. The strange, lunar landscape is well worth the stop for some fascinating photos during your tour.

You will then visit a local vineyard. There you will learn about the techniques used to make wine in such a unique area. You will taste different locally produced wines, paired with a simple but tasty Sicilian lunch. Usually the lunch includes dried tomatoes, mushrooms and olives of the area, local cured meats, Pepato cheese, and many other specialties.

Right after this visit you will drive to the town of Taormina, truly one of the most beautiful places in Sicily.

This charming and picturesque town has been a world famous resort since the end of the 19th century.

Known for its unspoiled natural beauty and climate as well as its excellent hospitality, the inhabitants have managed to preserve their local culture and ancient history while providing efficient modern organization.

After some time at leisure your driver will take you back to Catania port, where your tour will end.
